April 4th — Medal of Honor Fly Over - at Gainesville

Museum Bord LN joined 17 other aircraft and hundreds of ground vehicles honoring Medal of Honor recipients at this annual event.

June 6th — Dads and Kids

Every Saturday. We encourage families to visit. A local group scheduled a pre-fathers day event including a museum tour.

June 19th and 20th — Ada OK

One of the L-39s and possibly the Mi-2 will be flying out to the Ada Air Expo in Oklahoma. (Photo from prior event)

Friday through Sunday, June 19th through 21st — Summer Balloon Fest at Midway Airport

Nearby Midway airport is home to the Summer Balloon Extravaganza. In addition to balloon events, this year there will be an aerobatic demonstration team of T28's on Saturday. Further information is provided below, or see the Summer Balloon Classic web page for up to date information and a schedule. If scheduling permits, one of our aircraft may attend for static display.

DFW Summer Balloon Classic June 19-21 An Aviation Extravaganza featuring 40 magnificent Hot Air Balloons. 5 beautiful mass ascensions followed by top ranked competitors flying their balloons in challenging competition in the morning flights.. "Lite the Nite" balloon glow at sunset on Saturday evening fills the area with balloons on static display to light the sky with spectacular glow of color! Sunday 3pm MidWay Takes to the Skies Air Show! Aviation Extravaganza during the day features airplanes, helicopters, military aircraft, gliders, skydivers, powered parachutes, RC aircraft and more in flight and static display. Some flights available to public include helicopter, glider, airplane and DC3. Attractions-Exhibits, food, arts & crafts, children’s area and more! Something for all ages! Free admission ($10 parking). MidWay Regional Airport just south of Dallas and Ft Worth off Hwy 287 between Midlothian and Waxahachie.

Sunday, June 21st — Fathers Day at Lancaster Airport

Several hundred people are expected to visit an open house hosted by both museums on Fathers day this year. The Tram will be running between the museums during the event which is scheduled to open at 11AM and close at 5PM.

July 4th — Tyler, TX and Cedar Creek Lake

For the third year in a row, the L-39s will participate in the Tyler Museum and Cedar Creek events. (Stock Photo)

September 5th — Lancaster Airport, Open Cockpit Day

Annual event at Lancaster Airport. The Cold War Air Museum, Commemorative Air Force and Airport will hold an open house and fly-in with multiple aircraft on display. (Stock Photo)

The museum will be supporting the Bronze Eagles flights at Georgetown Airport.

2009 Events

January 23rd — Soviet Big Iron Saturday

Not an actual event, but very likely that the Mi-24D Hind, the MiG-23UB Flogger, and several other aircraft will be pulled out on the ramp to get some exercise. If nothing else, it should be a LOUD morning!
